Julia B. Howley, RD, is a highly experienced clinical dietitian with over a decade of experience providing expert nutritional care in diverse healthcare settings. She holds a BS in Dietetics from Kansas State University, graduating with honors, and a Dietetic Internship from Virginia Tech. Julia also earned a BS in Economics from James Madison University, where she graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Golden Key National Honor Society. Her academic achievements reflect a strong foundation in both science and critical thinking, which she brings to her nutrition practice.
Julia’s professional journey includes working across long-term care, rehabilitation, and acute care settings, where she has been instrumental in improving patient outcomes. Prior to Prima Medicine, she served as a clinical dietitian at Commonwealth Care of Roanoke, providing comprehensive nutritional assessments, developing care plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to address conditions such as weight management, wound healing, and chronic disease management. Her prior roles included delivering individualized counseling for TSA employees as part of a wellness initiative, teaching nutrition education classes, and writing nutrition-focused articles to promote community health.
Beyond her clinical work, Julia is deeply committed to professional development and community engagement. She has earned a Certificate of Training in Obesity for Pediatrics and Adults and served as the Scholarship and Awards Chair for the Northern Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. With a passion for evidence-based practice and patient-centered care, Julia continues to make a significant impact in the field of dietetics and nutrition.
