Dr. Luther see patients at the Merrifield, VA and Fairfax VA locations
Dr. Sylvia Luther is a highly experienced and board-certified Family Physician with over two decades of dedicated civilian and military healthcare service. After obtaining her MD from George Washington University School of Medicine, she underwent aviation medicine training and served as a naval flight surgeon on the USS JFK.
After completing her service, she pursued a family medicine residency in Fairfax at Fairfax Family Practice affiliated with Medical College of Virginia. During her time there, she also served as academic chief resident.
She has since served as a family medicine provider in various roles across the DOD (Department of Defense), offering comprehensive care to active-duty personnel, retirees, and their families.
Dr. Luther has made significant contributions to medical education and patient care initiatives in addition to her clinical work. She has served as a teaching consultant for medical residents and students, helping to shape the next generation of healthcare professionals. Her volunteer work, including her involvement with the Patient and Family-Centered Care Committee and the USHS seminar on cystic fibrosis, highlights her dedication to improving patient outcomes and promoting family-centered care. Dr. Luther is licensed to practice in Virginia and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine, demonstrating her commitment to upholding the highest standards in medical practice.
