It was clear to me that Dr. Torno understands how to streamline working with insurance plans to get results for her patients. She knew that if I needed to see her again about this issue, the diagnostics she really needed could not be justified without an x-ray, which was her pre-condition for that appointment. She pro-actively eliminated one full appointment cycle, potentially saving me time to resolution and the insurance company paying for that appointment. And the proactivity cost nothing! I wish all doctors approached treatment this way. It's been a long time since I've walked out of a doctor's office feeling so heard, respected, and satisfied that my questions had even been posed, never mind answered. I was there for pain, but also needed orders for vaccinations for upcoming travel. Dr. Torno, whom I'd never seen before, made a point to address my medications, asking me to tell her, rather than just looking at "the list." She then asked about the other Rx items listed. She addressed the vaccinations next, since it's so easy to get "the big question" answered and forget about that "side issue." She ordered bloodwork to ascertain whether I need boosters for childhood vaccines. After asking me to characterize my pain and answer her pointed questions, she conducted a few diagnostics. She then took the time to talk through her assessment, making specific references to various symptoms and lack thereof. She explained her treatment plan, which included Rx compatible with my other meds and a defined observation window (OW). "I'm ordering , which you need to take . If you still feel this pain after OW, use these orders for an x-ray and schedule another appointment." I feel very fortunate to have been so late for my appointment that I was redirected to Dr. Torno. Next time, I will schedule with her directly.
